Red Rain

True Story: When I was a kid growing up in Colorado, I was absolutely TERRIFIED of car washes.
Part of this I think is normal, because when you get right down to it the whole experience is a claustrophobic mess of white noise and huge alien-looking teeth coming right at your window -- but I also can't really discount the fact that I have a distinct memory of watching an old movie with my dad (I want to say it was Bullit, but I could be wrong) where a woman was in a car going through a wash and suddenly a bunch of bad guys basically appeared amongst all the water and brushes..
So believe me when I say that I totally get where Haiku the dog is coming from on this one.
Funny thing though -- as I got older I kinda grew to really dig going through them. In fact, I once dated a girl who kinda had a thing for..
Anyways, I digress.
What kinds of things were you scared of when you were little?

that poor dog!!!

I'm trying to remember if I was scared of anything...

my grandmother (rest in peace Maw Maw) had this back room which back in the day was a bar...

well it had this light thing that was a picture of a pretty black woman holding some schlitz malt liquor and her eyes followed you where ever you went in the dang room...I use to run past that thing all the time...

and her basement...it was so dark down there that you couldn't see the bottom...I always thought some monster was down there...

That dogs eyes were INTENSE!! LOL

I was scared of E.T. so much so that I still haven't seen it (I'm 24). Me & my brother had E.T. bedsheets & I would hate it when my mom put them on my bed...ugh I hated them haha.

You grew up in Colorado? Thats cool, I just went there for New Years, it was so beautiful I loved it!

Bef -- I remember those pics, a lot of the poster ads had them. Creepy stuff.

I'll tell you another thing though, I miss the hot chicks with booze posters. That used to be my primary home decorating style back in the day ;)

Poppy -- ET was sorta freaky looking, but I'm still giggling at you for being scared of him, lol.

Where in Colorado did you go?

Air conditioning ducts.

When I as 5 we moved into a 2 story house. The AC in the house was set up such that there was a second AC unit for the second floor, which happened to be located in the attic space above my new room. Somehow I hadn't been around whenever it came on when we were moving in, so when the AC roared to life that first night I freaked out. My dad came up to check on me and after I told him I had heard something roaring in the ceiling he said "Oh, that's just the monster. Don't worry about it, it hardly ever comes out." Having illicitly watched "Alien" already, I put two and two together and concluded that there were xenomorphs living in the air ducts, just waiting for the moment to strike.

i used to be afraid of the dark unless i was able to blink at the exact moment the lights went out.
the carpet in my parents' basement still freaks me out a little. it's got a very unpleasant texture and also smells a bit, but back in the day i would FLY across the room if i didn't have shoes on to avoid touching it for a long time
